Laminin

Ever look at the stars on a clear night? The magnificence of our Almighty God is displayed in the heavens.

Just imagine. You are one person in the USA, or other country, on the earth revolving around our sun which is part of the Milky Way Galaxy which is one of who knows how many galaxies. God’s greatness takes my breath away!

The same thing happened the other day when I received an email “forward.” It told about a protein that we have in our bodies.

This particular protein, Laminin, is made from three chains of amino acids. These chains are three different molecules intertwined to form one Laminin molecule. Wow! Three separate but different things forming one. Sound familiar?

This Laminin is what holds our cells together. It connects them and gives structure to our bodies. It glues them to our connective tissue allowing them to function properly. Without Laminin we would have no foundation. Sound familiar?

If you look at a diagram of this protein that God gave us or see a picture of it from an electron microscope, you will see that it is in the shape of a CROSS. What an awesome God we have! The protein that holds us together is in the shape of a cross.

At Easter we take special remembrance of the cross, the suffering of Christ, His resurrection and God’s love for us. Now we can ponder one more aspect of His creation. He put cross-shaped molecules in us to hold us together and give us a foundation and structure. How marvelous!

We do not base our beliefs on findings like these. We base our beliefs on God’s Word which tells us, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation, for by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Colossians 1:15-17
